Surprise!

8 Apr

I have been taking a short break from blogging the past  two weeks or so due to our trip down to Oregon. Our trip was hush hush because it was for my mom’s SURPRISE 50th birthday party!

My youngest brother Caleb, flew in from Austin, Texas on Thursday night. He arrived at our house around midnight. Friday morning he drove down with us. It really made the 10 hour drive tolerable having Caleb play with Linden in the back seat.

My other brother, Jacob, lives in Eugene, Oregon. After playing at a local park to get the wiggles out, we dropped Caleb off at Jacob’s house. They wanted to drive to the coast together Saturday afternoon.

Friday night we stayed at Steven’s Dad’s house because our presence in town was a secret. I worked with my dad and brothers all day Saturday setting up for the party.

The party was at 8:00pm and Mom arrived at 8:30 and the surprise went off without a hitch!

Dad had told her they won a private dinner at a fancy restaurant in their town. Instead, she was greeted by many of her friends, ALL of her children, and her grandson.

We had such a great night. My dad had a friend make the two cakes each with 3 tiers and each with 25 candles. Our old pastor prayed a special birthday blessing and my father in law Joe brought the sound system! Everyone brought food and Dad ordered cases of glass bottle Coca-Colas. The theme was sort of “1950’s” inspired. Over all, it was a super fun night!!

(I never got a shot of these at the party but I used some of the bottles as vases which I thought was super cute. )

It was Amazing! I felt like I was dreaming, but that could of had something to do with the 101/2 hours I worked that day. Haha! It was a true blessing to know how much I am cared for and loved by so many. Thank you for making the long trip down. It wouldn’t have been the same without you. ❤

Through tiny people's tantrums, quotidian duties, marriage, grief, and way too much Netflix, there is Beauty with a big B. It's fragrant, it's healing, it's distinct. This is how I gather bouquets of thorny, wild Light - still covered in dirt and probably a few stinging bugs. It's a bit messy here, but I'm honored to have you and I hope you find some of the Good Stuff.
